Lowell Hawthorne President & CEO and Co-Founder of the nation’s largest Caribbean franchise chain has just released his memoir entitled “The Baker’s Son” just in time as the nation celebrates Caribbean Heritage Month.
The Baker’s Son is a charming and well crafted memoir which provides entertaining and enlightening details about Hawthorne’s life in business and the true story of how the Golden Krust empire was built from a small Jamaican village to the pinnacle of American Enterprise. It tells the story of how this immigrant family from rural Jamaica relocated to Bronx New York in the 1980s and overcame several major crises to achieve the American dream. As much a business memoir as it is a spiritual memoir, the book records a profound journey of the author from his childhood to his spiritual re-birth. Lowell attributes the real source of his success in business to his wife, siblings, children and to the deep Christian faith inculcated in him by his father and mother from a young age.
A must read for anyone interested in pursuing entrepreneurism, Lowell also shares business tips he learnt and adapted throughout his business career. In that chapter entitled “Wealth – The Golden Krust Way”, Lowell shares his secret recipe for success which he has aptly titled “the baker’s dozen”.
Lowell Hawthorne has enjoyed an outstanding career, and has been bestowed with many awards for his entrepreneurial prowess and philanthropy. His most notable achievements include the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Jamaica Observer’s Business Leader Award, an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Medgar Evers College and the Order of Distinction from his native homeland of Jamaica. In 2005, he established the Mavis & Ephraim Hawthorne Golden Krust Scholarship Foundation, which has awarded numerous scholarships to young persons both in the United States and Jamaica.
