The taste of the islands has finally come to Staten Island so says Lowell Hawthorne, President & CEO of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, the nation's largest and fastest growing Caribbean franchise in the United States.
The store officially opened for business yesterday (February 17, 2010) and it was obvious to all that Staten Island residents had been waiting with bated breath for a taste of the chain's signature Caribbean cuisine. Lines were outside the door as residents queued up to purchase their favorite Caribbean dishes and Golden Krust's affordable signature patties. Franchise operators Ebenezer and Jennifer Odukoya and their team were kept busy all day as they offered customer service with a smile to wide cross section of patrons. This is the third Golden Krust franchise to be owned and operated by this enterprising couple who hail from Nigeria.
For several years we have received calls from people asking us to set up a Golden Krust restaurant in Staten Island says Lowell Hawthorne. We listened and were lucky to find a good location at 31 Victory Blvd., within walking distance of the ferry and a major shopping district.
Now when residents get hungry for great taste there's a whole new choice on the island. Golden Krust offers bold and savory authentic Caribbean cuisine including jerk chicken, braised oxtail, curried goat, beef, chicken, shrimp and spinach patties to name a few plus a wide variety of baked goods including breads, cakes and pastries.
