My Carolina: Charmaine Campbell

With Black Restaurant Week now underway in the Carolinas, and the three Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant locations in the region participating, Charmaine Campbell, owner of two locations in Raleigh, was featured on CBS 17’s My Carolina Monday morning.

Visiting to educate the audience on the history of Golden Krust, and allowing the sampling of oxtail, jerk chicken, and curry goat (all with rice and peas), Charmaine also won over the hosts with Golden Krust’s assortment of patties.

Founded in 2016 by Warren Luckett, Falayn Ferrell, and Derek Robinson, Black Restaurant Week® is dedicated to celebrating the flavors of African-American, African, and Caribbean cuisine nationwide. Through a series of events and promotional campaigns, Black Restaurant Week’s culinary initiatives help introduce culinary businesses and culinary professionals to the community.

Golden Krust is one of the leading Caribbean restaurants in the United States — known for their family recipes of classic Caribbean staples, from Jamaican beef patties and coco bread, to jerk chicken, oxtail, and curried goat or chicken.
